Detroit Shock inactive list for Game 1 of the WNBA Finals:

  • Tausha Mills
  • Cheryl Ford
That, to quote Alan Trammell, is not what Detroit was looking for.

Random notes from Game 1 of the WNBA finals.

* First time the Shock have been up 1-0 in a series since the conference finals last year - they had won three straight series after going down 0-1.

* Detroit became the first team to score 100 points in a Finals game - and Phoenix quickly became the second.

* That was Kara Braxton's best game as a pro, but damn, she's a mess when they make her do the post-game press conference. She is perfectly nice - just incredibly nervous. It didn't help that Plenette was making faces at her every time she tried to answer a question.

* I hope the league MVP and her Aussie sidekick from the Fever were not driving home. And they both did the C the wrong way during the Y-M-C-A dance.

* Cappie Pondexter is lucky to be alive. She got into a shoving and yelling match with Deanna Nolan, and Elaine Powell almost killed her.

* During that incident, Cheryl Ford came further off the bench than Amare Stoudemire did. We'll see if the league noticed.

* Diana Taurasi is averaging 10 points a game in three games against the Shock this year, and shooting 26 percent.

* Kara Braxton and Katie Feenstra on the floor together is one of the more bizarre things I've ever seen, but Phoenix couldn't stop it.

* Swin Cash has now been yanked for poor play in three of Detroit's last four games.

* Plenette Pierson had 26 points. That would be 26 more than Andrea Stinson ever scored for the Mercury. That was a great trade.
